AYN posted a 38-second video titled "Odin3 Portal" to its YouTube channel on 19 October 2026, confirming the handheld's first specs. It runs on a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q8, has a 9,000mAh battery, uses full-size Hall effect joysticks and anti-fingerprint AG glass, and weighs about 450g. AYN has not announced a price, a release date, the screen size or the memory options. The video had close to 59,000 views a few hours after it went up.

The table covers only what appears in AYN's video. Android Authority's write-up also lists analog triggers, rear buttons and an active cooling fan, and describes the Dragonwing Q8 as a chip whose specifications are close to the Snapdragon 8 Elite but without a cellular modem. Android Authority also notes that the battery is up from 8,000mAh on the Odin 3.

How it compares with the Odin 2 Portal
AYN first teased the Odin 3 Portal on 13 October. Retro Handhelds reported then that it "looks almost identical" to the Odin 2 Portal. The video bears that out: the same wide shell, with the D-pad below the left stick and the face buttons above the right one.
The Odin 2 Portal has a 7-inch 1080p OLED at 120Hz and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Liliputing reported at its launch. If AYN keeps the same screen, the Odin 3 Portal's upgrade is mostly the chip and the battery. A Dragonwing Q8 is a generation ahead of the 8 Gen 2, the chip in the AYN Thor and the Retroid Pocket 6, so on paper the new model has more headroom. How much more will only be clear once reviewers have units.

What it might cost
AYN has not said. The closest guide is what AYN charges today. On 19 October 2026 AYN's own store listed the Odin 3 at $369 for 8GB/128GB, $469 for 12GB/256GB and $529 for 16GB/512GB, all as batch pre-orders, and the Odin 2 Portal from $259. A bigger battery and a bigger screen usually cost more than the Odin 3, but any number before AYN announces one is a guess, and we are not going to print one.
AYN tends to sell new devices through pre-order batches on its own store first. Retailers such as LitNXT stock them later, at higher prices but with shorter shipping times.

If you do not want to wait: similar handhelds on sale now
The Odin 3 Portal has no price or date, so here are the closest alternatives you can buy today, with prices checked on 19 October 2026.
| Handheld | Screen | Chip | Price, 19 October 2026 | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AYN Odin 3 | 6" 1080p 120Hz OLED | Snapdragon 8 Elite class | $659.99 Pro at LitNXT (in stock); from $369 at AYN (pre-order) | The same generation of power in a smaller body |
| AYN Odin 2 Portal | 7" 1080p 120Hz OLED | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | From $259 at AYN | The current Portal, now well below its launch price |
| MANGMI Pocket Max | 7" 144Hz OLED | Snapdragon 865 | $359.99 at LitNXT | Big OLED screen for streaming and Android games |
| Retroid Pocket 6 | 5.5" 1080p 120Hz AMOLED | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | $429.99 at LitNXT | Flagship emulation in a slab shape |
| AYN Thor | 6" AMOLED plus 3.92" AMOLED | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | $469.99 Base at LitNXT (in stock); Base $329 at AYN (pre-order) | Two screens for DS and 3DS |
LitNXT pays this site a commission. AYN's own store does not, and it is cheaper if you can wait for a pre-order batch.
The AYN Odin 3 is the closest match available today. It has the same class of chip as the Portal in a 6-inch body with a 120Hz OLED and vapor-chamber cooling. Buy it if you want that performance now and do not need the bigger screen.
The AYN Odin 2 Portal at $259 is the value pick. It has the 7-inch OLED the new model will probably keep, and the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as the Retroid Pocket 6 and the AYN Thor. Our guide to playing Steam games on Android handhelds covers what that chip class can run.
The MANGMI Pocket Max is the cheapest way to a 7-inch high-refresh OLED today. Its older Snapdragon 865 is aimed at cloud streaming and Android games rather than heavy emulation.
The Retroid Pocket 6 and the AYN Thor share the Odin 2 Portal's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Pocket 6 is the slab option. The Thor is the one to get if you want DS and 3DS games on two screens, and our dual-screen handheld guide compares it with every other clamshell.
What to watch
The questions that matter most are the screen and the price. If the Odin 3 Portal keeps the Odin 2 Portal's 7-inch OLED and lands near the Odin 3's price, it will be the large Android handheld to beat this winter. We will update this page when AYN announces the price, the screen and the pre-order date. Until then the full catalogue is on the devices page.
