MechDIY runs a permanent-looking "hot sale" collection with a 12% coupon attached to it. The code is real, it is still published on the store today, and it has survived unchanged since this page first covered it in February 2025.
Whether it is worth using is a different question, and the answer depends entirely on which handheld you want. Against the two other stores this site links to, the coupon makes MechDIY the cheapest place to buy a TrimUI or a Miyoo by a wide margin — and leaves it $11 to $25 more expensive on Anbernic hardware, because Anbernic's own shop undercuts it before any discount is applied.
Every price below was read from each store's own product data on 6 August 2026. Prices move; the method is more durable than the numbers, so the comparison approach is spelled out as well.
The two codes MechDIY is advertising today
The hot-sale collection carries its own coupon in the page description:

Both are 12%. Both are published by the store right now. Neither can be confirmed without placing a real order, so treat them as advertised rather than guaranteed — if one is rejected at checkout, try the other. There is no countdown timer and no published expiry date on either.
One quirk worth knowing: the collection's URL still reads christmas-hot-sales-products, a leftover from a seasonal campaign. The page itself is now simply titled Hot Sale Products and lists 50 items, so an old-looking link is not a dead one.
What 12% off actually costs, next to the alternatives
The table below compares console-only SKUs — no bundled SD card — at the cheapest available colour on each store, because bundle contents differ wildly between retailers and comparing "from" prices is meaningless.

Two caveats on the middle rows. LitNXT does not sell a console-only RG35XX H, RG40XX H or RG40XX V at all, so those three rows compare MechDIY's bare console against LitNXT's cheapest bundle, which includes a card you may not want. And the RG35XXSP figure is LitNXT's cheapest colour (transparent red at $74.99); other colours on the same listing run to $89.99, which flips the verdict back to MechDIY.
Where the coupon genuinely wins
The Trimui Smart Pro is the standout. $61.59 after the code against $89.99 elsewhere is a 32% gap, and it is the same hardware — a 4.96-inch console with no card in the box either way. If you already own a spare microSD, MechDIY's listing is the cheapest legitimate route to that device of the three stores checked.
The TrimUI Brick follows at $70.39 against $85.99 on the same store. If you are buying a Brick, it is worth reading the CrossMix OS guide first, because MechDIY's headline listings for both TrimUI devices are card bundles rather than consoles, and the firmware on those cards is not the version most people assume it is.
The Miyoo Mini Plus is a tie at list price ($65.99 at both stores), so the coupon is the whole advantage — about $8 off the MechDIY listing. Small, but free.
Where it loses badly: Anbernic hardware
Buy Anbernic from Anbernic. The RG34XX is $57.11 on the manufacturer's own store today, from either the US or China warehouse at the same price, against $81.83 at MechDIY after the discount. The RG CubeXX tells the same story at $61.91 versus $73.03. No coupon closes a $24 gap.
The one thing that can narrow it is shipping. MechDIY's own banner states that all products include shipping and duties, while manufacturer and reseller stores commonly add both at checkout depending on warehouse. That is worth a few dollars of allowance on a near-tie like the RG35XXSP row — it is not worth $24.
The "From $49.99" listings are SD cards, not consoles
This is the single most expensive mistake available on the store, and it is not unique to MechDIY — the same trap exists on most retro-handheld listings that offer custom firmware cards.
Several products advertise a low "from" price that belongs to a card-only variant:

The last two rows matter. On both the Miyoo Mini V4 and the Miyoo A30 listings, the store's own product data shows every console variant unavailable today — only the SD cards can be added to the cart. The listings still display a low starting price, so a page that looks like a $29.99 handheld is a $29.99 memory card.
Read the variant selector before checking out, on any store. If the option says "Only Card", "Card Only" or "No Console", there is no handheld in the box.
You probably do not need to buy the card
The card bundles carry a $30 to $50 premium over the bare console, and every one of these devices runs firmware you can install yourself in an evening onto a card you already own:
- Miyoo Mini Plus and Mini V4 → install Onion OS
- TrimUI Brick and Smart Pro → CrossMix OS, or NextUI if you want a project with tagged releases
There is a second reason to skip them. Retailer cards are usually sold under the Surwish label with version numbers that do not match anything the upstream projects have ever released, so you cannot check what you are getting against a changelog. Flashing it yourself costs an evening and tells you exactly which build you are running.
Should you wait for a better discount?
Probably not, and there is nothing here to wait for. The 12% code has been attached to this collection continuously since early 2025 — this page documented the same MC12 code eighteen months ago — and no expiry is published on either the collection or the announcement bar. It behaves like a standing promotion, not a countdown.
That cuts both ways: it will very likely still be there next month, and it is unlikely to get deeper. Buy when you want the device, not when a banner tells you to hurry.
